Increased number of travelers from Midtjylland Karup

Two months after the reopening of the domestic route between Midtjylland Karup and Copenhagen, the airport has seen a clear increase in passenger numbers. The progress is mainly due to the daily departures to and from the Danish capital, but the summer charter flights to Mallorca are also a popular choice among travelers.

A reopened domestic route and a modernised terminal building marked a new chapter under the new ownership at Midtjylland Karup Airport in April 2026 – and since then, there has been increasing activity at the airport. From April to June, passenger numbers are more than four times higher than in the same period last year.

"We are pleased with the development in the first two months after the reopening of the domestic route. The route has not had stable operations since before corona, so it is positive to see interest from both business and leisure travelers. We naturally want more passengers in the long term, but as a start-up, we consider the result satisfactory," says Jakob Kronborg, COO of Midtjylland Karup Airport.

Great interest in charters to Mallorca

The domestic route will take a summer break and resume flights on August 10, 2026, with the same number of daily departures to and from Midtjylland Karup. During the holiday period, weekly charter flights to Mallorca will take off instead, in cooperation with Bravo Tours and Primo Tours.

"We are pleased to be able to offer guests a local solution with free parking and easy access to the airport. The summer program from Midtjylland Karup is popular, but there are still available seats on upcoming departures for those who are quick," says Peder Hornshøj, CEO of Bravo Tours.

The summer route take off from June 30 to August 4. Tickets can be booked with Bravo Tours and Primo Tours.

Facts: Total number of passengers to and from Midtjylland Karup

• From 1 April to 30 June 2025, a total of 1,424 passengers travelled to and from Midtjylland Karup Airport.
